Here's a story about five guys that took a tour to roam. They went to every museum, fancy restaurant, and famous home. Then one day, on an organized stroll, the guide led them to a sight to behold.
He said, "Here's David. Doesn't he look nice? Doesn't he look good. Michelangelo took his time."
The two guys at the front were the first to speak, commenting on the curls of his hair, his eyes, lips, nose, and cheeks. They joked, "With that six pack he probably got around." And then their eyes kept moving down.
They said, "David. Doesn't he look nice? Doesn't he look good. Michelangelo took his time."
The next two chimed in, standing off to David's sides. They admired his chiseled arms and the bulging of his... thighs. They said theirs "was the best view, the best view to see mastery of the human form in all its beautiful asymmetry."
They both said, "David. David looks so nice. David looks so good. Michelangelo took his time."
Finally the last guy, the other four realized, hadn't said a word standing there behind. So they all moved gathered back around, gazing at the backside who could ever wear a frown. Yeah they all moved, gathered round back. You can't be blue when looking at that bold butt crack.
They sang, "David. David looks so nice. David looks so good. Michelangelo took his time."

Sometime later. Who knows exactly how long? They were drinking cappuccinos, still in a state of shock. When the quiet guy spoke, he said, "You have to concede. The thing about good art there's never just one side, two, or even three. Because David, he's got no bad sides. No matter where you look, he's got nothing to hide. The only difference between David and the lives that we live. We're not settin' marble. We can take, we can give. And those that speak the loudest be the ones showing their ass. It's never made sense to me how the rear gets treated like bottom class. Because we all know that the first will be last. Even giants get smashed. And underdogs advance fast. Goliath meets his match."
With David no matter where you stand, one glimpse of him makes you feel like you're a man.
Yeah with David, no matter who you are, take a look at him, you feel like you're a star.
Yeah, David. David looks so nice. David looks so good. Michelangelo took his sweet time.

Woke up this morning on the right side of bed
Didn’t hear my alarm 'cuz the power was dead
Came up the stairs from the basement and my parents were mad
They said you’re gonna lose your second job and we’ll all be dead
Yeah that’s just life today,
Sun’s shining ain’t it great?
Couldn’t be any other way
That’s what my parents say
So I left the house real quick, I didn’t make no fuss
I threw on a rumpled shirt and took the company bus
but there was a traffic jam, I thought I can’t be the only one
and I’m pretty sure the boss can’t fire all of us
Yeah that’s just life today,
The only clouds are the ones we make
Couldn’t be any other way
That’s what my boss will say
Usually I’d be worried, but there was something in the air
My parent’s needed the rent money, but today I didn’t care
Cuz the landlord’s got ten houses, and we’ve got none
He calls us bums, but we pay his mortgage, I’m thinking, let the banks come
Yeah that’s just life today,
People jogging on their breaks
Couldn’t be any other way
That’s what the landlords say
so I started walking til i got tired, sat on a bench
angry workers from the glue factory were striking because of the stench
the smell of burning hair was making them all itch and wretch
but scientists say it’s fine, they tested the water in the ditch
Yeah that’s just life today,
sky is blue, the water’s gray
Couldn’t be any other way
That’s what the scientists say
I ended up on the picket line, because why not I’d lost my job
And everybody knows if you lose your job, you lose your house, you lose your dog
and if you lose your dog, you lose your mind, you lose your sense of time, and you get hooked on drugs
and politicians passed a bill that if you do, you’re basically fucked
Yeah that’s just life today,
There used to be tents, but they got swept away
Couldn’t be any other way
That’s what the politicians say
suddenly the sky got dark, a cloud of drones came swarming on
and the cops in metal suits they came charging us like a mob
they used acoustic pulses, that made you lose all your bearings
but I was lucky I knew the feeling from doing Ketamine
Yeah that’s just life today,
Cop on every corner, so you better obey
Couldn’t be any other way
That’s what their bullhorns say
When I got home my parents were gone so I turned on the TV
after seeing all those people riddled with bullets I couldn’t hardly get to sleep
but the news report was showing pictures of rainbows and it gave me the creeps
so I packed a bag, started thinking i might need to flee
Yeah that’s just life today,
we used to look at stars, we used to play in the hay
But now to have fun, you gotta pay
That’s what the TV say
Later that night as I tucked myself into bed
I got out my phone and was greeted by a woman without a head
You see last week for mothers day I tried to buy my mom a dress
Now either they think I’m a woman or they know that I cross-dress
That’s just life today
scrolling ads to an early grave
but of course now there are no graves
because we’re turning our dead into paste
They all say that’s life today
your body does it’s part when your soul slips away
but I’m having second thoughts,
might hit the picket line again.

I might just
one day float away,
tie balloons to my chair.
Life’s that easy.
Cuz when nothing’s holding you down,
who wants to stick around
on this damn expensive ground.
I’ll take with me my favorite book
and a picture of my mom,
so she can read along,
as my bookmark.
And when I get bored I’ll look over
the side to give myself a stir.
There’s a certain kind of fear that never leaves ya’.
And the days will come and go.
Hope my toes don’t get cold.
When I’ve exhausted all my seasons,
I’ll still be up there for some reason
even I myself don’t know.
But don’t you worry about what I’m eatin’.
I spend most of my time sleepin’.
Those habits were nice to relearn.
Years ago I lost my phone
like I did at the theater.
It tumbled out of my pocket
And down to the earth.
But I remember our last call.
Your words are etched in my light head.
You said “You made it out of the rat race, but some of us are still stuck in.
But it’s not as bad as it seems,
When you see how bad it could be.
Come home....”
Got pins and needles in my hands
and my arms feel like rubber bands
stretched around something that’s gone.
So I’ll take my next steps wisely.
But not so much as to preclude myself
from recognizing
how it is for everybody else
when they’re recognizing
how bad it’s
getting
to be.
